God’s promises of forgiveness and life in Christ will be personally bestowed upon, Kiera Susan Heinze, in worship this morning as she is made a child of God thru the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Her Godparents are Shane & Ashley Behnke & Ryan Bischoff. Parents are Ryan & Katie (Bischoff) Heinze. Grandparents are Randy & Patty Bischoff and Paul & Debbie Heinze. May the Lord keep Kiera His own through continued spiritual nourishment with the Word of God.
Following worship the family invites everyone to a cake reception in the parish hall in honor of Kiera’s baptism.
Lenten Vespers & Soup Supper
Once again our Lord Jesus affords us six special Lenten mid-week Vesper services, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 22nd, to ponder the seriousness of sin and the greatness of our Savior’s love for sinners. This year’s Lenten messages, based upon the New Testament Gospels, give us insight into God’s plan of salvation for us as Jesus goes on HIs journey to the cross and to His resurrection. The theme of these six weeks will be: “See His Cross!” Pastor List, Pastor Pfeiffer from Trinity & Pastor Naumann from St. John’s Clarkston & Peace, Orofino, ID, will share in bringing the Lenten messages from God’s holy Word.
What a wonderful opportunity for all of us and our families to ponder again our Savior, Jesus Christ, and His atoning work on the cross! What a wonderful way for all of us and our families to appreciate more clearly the tremendous love our Lord has for all people. Plan to join us each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Why not also invite someone who is unchurched to join you for these Lenten services?
We also begin the Lenten Season with a soup supper on Ash Wednesday, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Another soup supper is planned for the last mid-week service on Wednesday, March 28th. Soup & Dessert Volunteers are needed. The sign-up sheet is found on the table beneath the mailboxes.
Daily Devotions
Meditations devotional booklets for the next quarter (Feb. 26, 2012 – May 26, 2012), are found on the table beneath the mailboxes. A donation of $2.25 per copy will help defray the cost of these devotions.
“Sheep & Shepherds”
Copies of the devotional book by Rev. L. Dale Redlin, Em., “Sheep & Shepherds”, are still available. How beautifully the author associates real life shepherding experiences with our spiritual walk as sheep of the Good Shepherd. Also included in each chapter are hymn verses and prayers. It is offered to us for $12.00 per copy. It also makes a good gift. Checks should be made to “Gethsemane.”
Sunday Sermons
You can hear the Sunday Sermons online. Go to our church website Gethsemaneclc.org and click on “Video” on the lower left side of the screen. Then choose which Sermon you would like to listen to. Complimentary copies of our worship services on DVD are also available upon request.
