Christmas Luncheon

      The Gethsemane Women have planned their annual Christmas Luncheon Potluck for this coming Saturday, December 6th at 12 noon.  Everyone is asked to bring a salad or dessert to share on the buffet table. Those serving as hostesses and preparing the program are Mary Ann Vogt & Theo Vanhoff.

Today – Sun. School & Bible Class at 10:15 a.m.; Choir Prac., 11 a.m.

Monday – Adult Information Class, 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday – Confirm. Class, 4-5:30 p.m.; Pre-marital counseling, 7 p.m.

Wednesday – *Midweek Advent Vespers, 7 p.m.

Thursday – Bd. of Education, 7 p.m.; Adult Inf.Class (Anderberg), 2 pm

Saturday –GLCW  Christmas Fellowship Luncheon Potluck, 12 Noon.

Next Sunday – Divine Worship, 9 a.m.;   Sun. School, GLCW Meeting &

Christmas Party

         Next Sunday evening, December 7th, beginning at 6 p.m., Gethsemane's annual Christmas Party for  those (confirmation age and older). Following finger-foods and Christmas Caroling, everyone will exchange a "white elephant" gift.  Each family is kindly asked to bring a favorite finger-food and/or a dessert to share on the buffet table and every person attending should bring a wrapped "white elephant" gift. (No names on the gifts) The beverages will be provided. Come and enjoy the evening of fellowship, food and fun!

 

Senior Fellowship

      The Gethsemane Senior's Christmas Fellowship Potluck will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11th at 12:00 Noon, in the church parish hall.  Each family is asked to bring a dish and/or dessert to share on the Christmas buffet table.  In place of a gift exchange, a basket will be set out to receive gifts for the local Meals on Wheels Program. Hostesses are Eleanor Simon and Florence Krause.  Seniors! Come and enjoy the Christian fellowship and food!

 

Church Christmas Card

      At the sanctuary entrance you will find a Church Christmas Card on a pedestal for everyone (members and friends) to sign, wishing one another Christmas greetings.  Please write your name on the page and, if you would like, a short Christmas greeting.

Serving the Lord

      The Church Council has appointed the following men to serve on this year’s Nominations Committee: Darol Baumgartner, Chair, Dan Lueck & Paul Karnitz; and on the Budget Committee: Randy Bischoff, Chair, Dan Goldgrabe, Clair Jones & Jerry Lueck. These Committees are now making preparation for the December Council Meeting and Annual Meeting in January.

 

“Poems of Prayer … Praise”

This devotional book by Rev.  L. Dale Redlin, Em., includes original poems on various subjects like nature, time, prayer, love. the meaning of the cross, the seven last words of Christ, creation etc., with Scripture verses accompanying each poem along with a short prayer.  It is offered to us for $11.00 per copy.  If you are interested, please sign the order form on the table in the Narthex. The order will be sent this week.

 

The Gethsemane Senior’s…

Silent Auction raised $60.25 for the Valley Food Bank. Thanks to everyone who participated and a special thanks to Beth Bear for organizing this event.  Any remaining auction items need to be picked up by  their donors today.

 

Christmas Bags

      Gifts would be welcome to help cover the cost of the fruit, candy and peanuts for the Christmas Candy Bags. This year there will be about 30 bags prepared. You may place your donation in the box found on the table in the narthex.
