New Subscriptions …

… to the "Lutheran Spokesman" (New and Renewals) are now due. The bulk Subscription rate is $11.00 for 1 year (12 issues). For your convenience, envelopes for this are found in the basket on the table in the narthex. Simply write your name on the envelope and enclose your remittance and place it in the basket or give it to the pastor so that it may be properly recorded. Today is the deadline.   

 

Food & Servers

      Currently, the GLCW, has established a list of food volunteers and servers for church functions (funerals), etc.  If you are not currently on the list and would be willing to be called to provide a salad, dessert, etc., and/or may be able to serve at these luncheons when the need arises, please contact Barb Vogt, Lois Baumgartner or Pastor. Your service to our Lord would be appreciated.

 

“Take Me Out to the Ball Game”

      Once again this year, a night at Avista Park has been planned for Friday, August 1st ($1 Family Feast Night). 35 box seats have been reserved for Gethsemane and Trinity.  The cost is $8 for an Upper Box Seat.  Game time is 6:30 p.m.  For all who are interested, please sign the sheet found on the table in the Narthex.

 

A Pacific Northwest Youth Camping Trip …

will be held the week of August 3–8, 2008, hosted by Redemption, Lynnwood, WA. There is one Gethsemane youth who will be attending.  If there is anyone else interested, please see pastor for information.

 

 

Our Congregation

      There will be a special Voters’ Meeting this morning after worship.

      We now have available to any member of the congregation, rental of one 2 bedroom unit of our duplex on Woodward.  The rental cost is $600/Mo, which includes the utilities, except cable. If you are interested, please see one of our Trustees or President Jerry Lueck.

         A small Hammond Organ is available to anyone who could use it.

You will find it along the wall in the parish hall.

 

Family VBS

         Vacation Bible School for all ages  (5 thru Adult) will be held July 7-10, from 6-8 p.m.  The theme is: “Soaring High!”   Besides the Bible lessons and activities for the VBS children, the adults will also enjoy a topical study from God’s holy Word. 

         Those who would be willing to assist with VBS, as teachers and helpers, please indicate that on the sign-up sheet found on the table in the Narthex.

         Also, children and adults who plan on attending, please write your name on the sheet provided, which will help in the planning. 

         A VBS meeting is planned for Tuesday at 7 p.m.

 

CLC News

         Christine Fossum, the wife of Rev. Vance Fossum, was welcomed into the glory of heaven a week ago, Saturday.  A Victory Service was held at Holy Trinity, West Columbia, SC, this past Tuesday and also at Messiah, Eau Claire, WI, yesterday.  “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth.”

         Seminary graduate, Rev. Mike Gurath, has accepted a temporary Call as vacancy pastor at Faith Lutheran, Markesan, WI.
